Young Consultants

Have you met a kid that absolutely wows you?

Does he seem to be an untapped resource?

Let them know their value.

Explain to them how valuable their mind is. Talk to them about consulting.
Their consulting rates might be low due to their lack of experience. What kids are, though, are creative!!!

This mean they have so much value. You might surprise yourself, as a mature businessperson, their opinions and connections, are an extremely valuable untapped market.

Now, a little about price. Goods don’t always have the same value that the market discloses. We have been conditioned to follow some price points, set on by others on the internet.
Value has to be determined by “you” and your place in the marketplace. What solutions do these kids have that you need, but do not see?

Let’s get these kids marketable as consultants.

What is their value?
Its whatever you offer them.
It’s the trust you place in the.
They might have some free time, maybe some friends that can help out?

Sometimes you get more than you thought you might.

Two questions are important in determining your price point.

1. What are they willing to accept for their time?

2. What about some ownership in the company?

Sometimes a partial stake in the company might render a hefty sum for them. They might like being helpful in creating a brand. Young social media buffs love to brag about their role in a startup.. getting you some eyeballs on your company. They might know how to set up a team faster than you can. Maybe their team are their friends.. Young minds are so very creative and such an untapped potential of energy.

My recommendations are to offer these options:

  • Charging by hour ( they will likely say yes quickly to offer them 3 times what they are earning now per hour)
  • Charging by project how much would you pay for your project to jumpstart? Have a deadline. Pay 1/3 beginning.. 1/3 mid-month.. 1/3 end.
  • Charging based on commission only (some might like this, but not sustainable, I believe.)
  • Charging initial sum and monthly amount thereafter (my personal favorite.. it keeps money flowing in, and provides interest in the beginning, to follow through)

Let’s grow businesses, while we tap in on a creative source that is withering away in low self-esteem and doubt. Let’s show these kids what they can do.

Turn them into young consultants!!!
